If I'm going to be honest with you, I was also kind of upset, maybe even a little more than kind of upset that they got Cardinal Togli to say the mass for Fulton Sheen.

but most significantly, for members of the administration to turn these rhetorical weapons on the institution that for so long could be counted on to wield them on behalf of the powers of reaction suggests both a rupture within the ideological framework of American empire and an important development in the church's self-presentation to the world.
