It's obviously they're... it's a great thrill for for all the inductees but it's also a history lesson for the rest of us saying okay here's you know as you said you kind of play for those who came before you and there's something something to be said for that let's get back to your group now as you get ready for uh for eastern michigan um And Stiles Blackman has been, you know, been getting a lot of work.

Coming off the injury, that position at right guard has been manned by Stiles Blackman, a Division II transfer from Augustana, as well as Blake Cherry, a transfer from Arkansas.

Those two guys holding their own there at that right guard spot for the Badgers as we enjoy.

It's not... a physicality of some things it's just almost like an emotions of things

I always think of all those new faces and one of them was your starting right guard now Blake Cherry from Arkansas came over and I think he ended up with more reps but Stiles Blackman good good program division two Augustana but now here you are 80,000 Lambeau Field Notre Dame go

get him son yeah you know um We've kind of gone back and forth, or Coach Mateo's had, about who was going to start.

And he just felt like, look, Stiles is a guy that has played ball, has started some games, obviously, for a couple years.

But Lucas Simmons was the only non-starter along the offense line that was in there on that drive.

Everyone else had played the entire game, except for Blake Cherry and Stiles Blackman.

But Blake Cherry was out there, and I think he actually ended up giving up one of the sacks that Notre Dame had on that last drive.

But we'll see what happens with that.

The other notable stuff, I think maybe we'll go through it when it hits the listener questions here.

So either way, Emerson Mandel did not play.

Stiles Blackman got the start, and then Blake Cherry got some time in right guard as well.

Overall, I'm not going to give them any kind of credit for – uh run blocking zero credit for that they didn't they did not open holes but in terms of pass blocking which is what i thought it would be the opposite i thought that they were going to have a lot of success i thought they were going to be a good run blocking offensive line i thought they might struggle with in pass blocking and they did towards the end of the game but i uh that was not the case for the for the first half for the most part

Yeah, but they did have four of their five offensive linemen that they went into the year thinking that they would have.

And you're able to see both Stiles Blackman and Blake Cherry get reps at right guard.

So certainly good for Haywood to come back.

And he said after the game, he'd been practicing for the last couple of weeks, which it looked like things were trending in that direction based on the final open practices because he started to jog on the sideline.

He is also a great talent.

I think Blake Cherry at right guard has been much better offensively.

relief there I think he'll be just fine we saw him open up a lot of holes in fall camp so I think Emerson Mandel getting him back to face this tenacious front seven of the Fighting Irish is so important and it's going to allow Wisconsin even if not for the entire game because Notre Dame like you said Jim they have more talent Wisconsin does it'll at least allow them to get a foothold attempt to establish that identity that if they want to win this game they'll need to execute

I think tackle is a spot where if you don't have a Kevin Haywood, suddenly you're going to Lucas Simmons, a guy that didn't play a lot for Florida State last year.

I wouldn't be shocked if we see them start.

But I would also be shocked if we didn't see a lot of Lucas Simmons, Blake Cherry as well.

My gut feeling is they'll be on a pitch count, maybe out there for a little bit, maybe a little bit of rotation going on with those guys.

as much as it also pains me to say this, we've seen good things from Blake Cherry, Lucas Simmons, the backups who have stepped into those right guard, right tackle roles.

I think you sit them out.
