And looking at his IMDb, he is not in anything significant.

The most recent thing that I've seen was in Black Klansman, and he was Chief Bridges, which I don't remember at all.

INK Movie Review - TIFF 26

And, you know, the very ending of this film very much feels like Oppenheimer.
D
10:07Daniel BaptistaHOST
It very much feels like look, talking to Einstein, just like, "You know, I, did, you know, did we destroy the world? I think we did." And almost with a mix of BlacKkKlansman with the, with the use of more modern footage in it.
D
10:19Daniel BaptistaHOST
But, um, great performances in this film.

I wanna say, you know, I think Jack O'Connell, obviously we know how great he is.

Also stars Adam Driver, who was, at this point, smack dab in the middle of starring in the Star Wars sequels.

2017 was also the same release year as The Last Jedi, which, you know, maybe not the most well-received of the movies, but, I mean, made quite a lot of money, and it's an international... success and then he directly follows this movie with Spike Lee's Black Klansman which he receives an Academy Award for and then in 2019 also receiving an Academy Award for Marriage Story but since that point has been in a lot of not so good movies He's done House of Gucci for Ridley Scott.

He did Megalopolis for Coppola.

He did the dinosaur movie 65, which like eight people saw.

He was on 12 episodes of The Greatest American Hero as Les Carlisle or Norm Carlisle, but also maybe best known, and I cringe when I say that, as Brandon Brindle on Small Wonder.
G
38:34Greg DienerHOST
But let's not forget, he was the reporter guy [laughs] in that one segment on Chappelle's Show where, uh, Dave Chappelle played the, uh, played the Black Klansman.
G

Hold on a second, I didn't even mention the best part.

William Bogert was on an episode of Knots Landing.

That being said, I think Terrence Blanchard, besides, like, in a lot of Spike films, I think it doesn't work for me, or at least doesn't play as well.
G
57:20Giovanni LagoPANELIST
Like, Black Klansman I think is great.
G
57:22Giovanni LagoPANELIST
I actually really like the Fireblood score.
G
57:24Giovanni LagoPANELIST
I thought that was, like, really good.
G
57:26Giovanni LagoPANELIST
He's trying a lot of new things.
G
57:29Giovanni LagoPANELIST
But, like, if you listen to the...
G
57:33Giovanni LagoPANELIST
Black Klansman and then you go and listen to Inside Man they literally sound very similar at times and so listening to this I am like yeah this sounds like a Terrence Blanchard score I thought it was someone doing like a cheap imitation of his work and it's like no it's just Terrence Blanchard just doing an okay score like it's serviceable sometimes overpowers the movie it's got all the hallmarks so yeah but I'm so glad you mentioned that because that very much slipped my mind
M
58:02Matt NegliaHOST
Yeah, it was good.
The Best Picture Show - Gentleman's Agreement
S
17:03SooshHOST
yeah
Q
17:03QuintonHOST
interesting question like probably crossfire i i just liked crossfire more as a whole i it was easily my favorite of the five i would go as far to say crossfire easily should have won like i just think it's a better made film and i'm shocked that it walked away with zero wins and gentleman's agreement walked away with the most of the night which was only three but still it walked away with the most wins so clearly that was the one that they sided with And it's kind of now I want to keep comparing everything to Green Book, but I'm getting a little bit of a flashback of 2018 when Green Book beat out Black Klansman, two movies about like, you know, black culture in America.
Q
17:45QuintonHOST
And one was actually a really brilliant movie.
Q
17:50QuintonHOST
film overall just better directing better story and just a much more well-packaged film compared to the eventual oscar winner itself green book like i so that's i can't help but feel that when i watch these two movies because crossfire is brilliant like it's edited so well i love the directing there's like one or two scenes that i still remember from this movie that i just think are phenomenal like some really cool techniques they use there's one scene where uh you know the whole film is an ensemble cast kind of whodunit kind of movie so it's very different from gentleman's agreement where somebody is murdered at the very beginning of the movie and it's because they're jewish somebody murdered them because they were jew oh And so the whole movie is about this detective trying to figure out who killed this person.

nah yeah there you go but yes that's Harry Belafonte honestly the thing that the two things when I think of Harry Belafonte other than the music I know he was a producer on fucking Beach Street And then he's also in Black Klansman.
B
51:28BrentHOST
He's at the near the end of the movie telling the story about the brothers who got lynched and shit while the little racist bastards are trying to plant the bomb and all that.
B
51:36BrentHOST
It's at the very end of Black Klansman.
B
51:38BrentHOST
But yeah, shout out and rest in peace to Harry Belafonte.
B
51:41BrentHOST

Well, I think absolutely.

I mean, I think if you have something that's particularly timely for the moment, like that you can see some of that reflected in what you're seeing, you also can see the kind of conservatism of the Academy reflected back in films where you can have, you know, films that are really, really exciting, things like Black Klansman, Black Panther.

This was a 2019 ceremony.

And then you have something like Green Book, which was infinitely less thought provoking.
