Blackfoot River

They were all hanging out at Paws Up Ranch last June, as reported by the New York Times.

We had someone like Andrew Farkas sending off an email in the Epstein files from Greeno, Montana, which is along the Blackfoot River, which is one of these glamping spots that the Paws Up Ranch offers.

We have the Yellowstone Club.

We have people like Jack Horner, who... hilarious.

Big concrete plugs that are the result of the replacement of the I-90 bridge.

Not so much an issue if there was a lake in there, which there once was, but if you're floating the Blackfoot River...

these are huge impediments.

So one of the final vestiges of that era of Milltown Dam and the reservoir will hopefully be removed in the next year or so.

I had, you know, 15 women flying in from all over the country, the U.S. and Canada.

And I rented this amazing 3,000-acre ranch on the edge of the Blackfoot River.

And, you know, it took me months to organize all of the – facilitators who would run classes and the, you know, the chef and, oh my gosh, there were just so many things to organize.

And a few months before the retreat, a friend of mine, Colleen, offered to come and help, volunteer her time, show up, support the participants, support me in whatever way she could.

Yeah.

My husband and son just got off a few days on the Blackfoot River, and saying the water levels were really low, like 800 CFS, which is- Maybe lower than you're looking for when you're gonna do that river in August.

And it's not a fast-moving river, maybe some class twos, maybe threes, but really rocky and bony and shallow, and a lot of ways to just sort of get caught on rocks that you don't see coming 'cause of the low depth.

Right.

And every expedition member got a landmark named after them.

In Montana, there's a tributary of the Blackfoot River that they had named Seaman's Creek.

It's now known as Monteur Creek.

But this suggests that Seaman was his real name and that they actually named this creek after him.

And when I've asked Bill and Onyx about it, uh, in the years after the film came out, I said, "So what was your role as executive producers?" And they said, "Oh, couple times we went and sat on the river and, uh, you know, drank beer and watched them shoot a scene." But they evidently didn't really make very many contributions, in part because the m- the book and the events that are described are not filmed in the place where the movie is set.

The movie is set, and the, the little novella is set in Missoula, and the river is the Blackfoot River.

Uh, but in filming A River Runs Through It, Redford decided that he wanted to actually film over east of the Continental Divide, uh, in the area around Bozeman and Livingston, and primarily on the Gardner River, although they did go down to Wyoming and film a, a particular waterfall scene that was in the film.

So it was actually filmed over, uh, east of the Continental Divide in Montana, uh, in the area around Bozeman and Livingston, but it's about Missoula, uh, uh, and it's about the, the Blackfoot River.

And, uh, it's, uh, as everyone, I think, has seen this film and remembers, for one thing, uh, and it won an Academy Award for cinematography, it is a remarkably gorgeous film.

I mean, Montana has never looked so wonderful in all the films made about Montana.
