bog noise got me he says this is how we felt when you refused to play half-life 1 and played black mesa instead that I did do that.

I get it.

It's not the same thing, though.

That was like a remake of sorts, a reimagining of sorts.

Although history has not been kind to Black Mesa.

I saw a thread about Black Mesa and everyone was like, boo, boo, boo.

What are your thoughts on Black Mesa?

Well, the first word that comes to my mind when it comes to is just gratitude, really.

Because I've been a fan of the Half-Life franchise since basically when it first came out in 1998.

And, you know, it took a while for any kind of resolution of any type.

Half-Life Alyx, for people to feel like there's more to the story that's going to be continued.

But when it comes to Black Mesa, it really just started from the standpoint of just being a fan like everybody else.

And when the team that started working on the Black Mesa mod, they had a forum called leakfree.org.

And you, like, actively participate in this boring-ass tram ride.

You're like, ooh, what's over here? Ooh, what's over there? And, you know, Valve the whole time is sneakily showing you the game and how things are operating within Black Mesa.

And, like, it, it's weird 'cause it's not...

I feel like we've played a lot of games like this that are, like, indie first person RPGs, but they're fairly limited in scope, which makes sense, right? And then you get to, like, the sort of Morrowind fan, uh, you know, fan project that takes 10 years to make, or Black Mesa, and that's, like, scaled up all the way.

This feels like neither of those to me.

This feels like a From game.

yeah yeah yeah um oh it's like a hardcore survival and adds like survival horror elements maybe i tried to play this one i might have tried to play this one and yeah uh for some reason it was crashing too too much for me to to actually play um

respect for the black mesa team

oh yeah of course yeah black mesa was a fantastic effort

yeah a lot of effort went into that

yeah uh Yeah, love our mods.

One day we're going to hear about Gabe getting boarded by pirates.

Regarding the joining Valve and all that, the thing I was going to say earlier that Pedro mentioned, or you mentioned, for example, Black Mesa, it's like all those small modding teams become studios.

A lot of people that modded Source and those games became other games and then became proper studios.

So it's crazy.

Yeah.

And they made, like, like, there's a fan-made version of it for Black Mesa you can download.

Bear in mind this is like the first time...

I've... seen it or played this since it first came out um the zen levels uh oh man i'm just it's such a good game like i i feel like this happens every single time i play play replay through half-life or black mesa i'm just kind of reminded of what a masterpiece this game is i always my mind always goes to half-life 2 because that is my that is the favorite in the series for me.
