Black Lightning

We'll hear another drop here in a second for the DC Comics News.

There's nothing like John Williams, is there? For 50 years, Jefferson Pierce has been a father, an educator, a leader, and the electrifying hero known as Black Lightning.

This January, DC celebrates five decades of Black Lightning with DC Power Black Lightning 50th Anniversary Special, a 48-page one-shot bringing together creators from across comics to honor Jefferson Pierce's life as he continues his story in the DC Universe.

Now, this will feature a main story by Jenny Blake, Brandon Thomas, and Fico Osio, with additional stories by Danny Lower, Greg Anderson at LC, and Al Lutzen with artists Karen S. Dubrow, Daryl Banks, and Sadat Ozgin.

In the main story, the celebration finds Black Lightning entrusted with protecting Metropolis while Superman is away, but as an old enemy plots his demise from the shadows, Jefferson will once again have to prove that protecting a community means more than simply winning the fight.

Now, Jefferson appears to save the world countless times, but within their battle for its fate looming on the horizon, does he still have time to repair his relationship with his ex-wife, Lynn Stewart? As Jefferson considers what comes next for the two of them, his responsibilities with Black Lightning continue to pull him in every direction.

Now, the anniversary special explores the relationships that have defined Black Lightning over the five decades.

He has fought alongside the Outsiders, crossed paths with his daughters Anissa and Jennifer, joined Mr.

Around Nicole, yeah.

We are getting a Black Lightning 50th anniversary special with a host of Black talent as well as one name that is very familiar to the character, Jenny Isabella.

Yes.

That's awesome.

Yeah, from the trailer.

Yeah.

I will say, I'm glad to see both this and the Black Lightning 50th Anniversary are priced only at $4.99 for 48 pages, so those aren't too bad.

Too bad, yeah.

Yeah.

And they made a retro 70s Black Lightning a month after I made my own custom version to fit in with my McFarlane line.

Yeah.

Perfect.

Dope.

Now, um, obviously I'd be remissed if I didn't bring it up, but, uh, you're, you're of course going to be joining the black lightning creative team to basically do the 50th anniversary of black lightning.

So congratulations to you.

Appreciate you.

Yeah,

especially mythology.

That's why I'm thinking is Jefferson Pierce going to be an ancestral grandson to the god of thunder, Shango?

So no mythology in mind.

Okay.

And gave him an alternate skin option to be Black Lightning.

Just put the DC character in the game.

The DC fighting game.

only difference.

Yeah.

So I'm saying, like, why put Raiden at all? Just put Black Lightning in.

Right now, some of those skin things were kind of cool.

people.

They have this placard here that shows Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, I think Hal Jordan, and then Black Lightning, and then there's Superman in a black suit.

And they're doing normal...

Now, you know, we have our opinions on these figures and, you know, that's most important.

Black

Lightning.

Black Lightning, yeah.

I haven't seen any flashes other than the Absolute Flash.
