KoolKryptoGUEST

And so for me, I really kind of got my like introduction through pain like everybody else like you know on BitMEX back in the day on perps and getting liquidated and everything options for me is actually quite new though I didn't really trade options very much until pretty much the end of last year beginning of this year and so that's kind of when I stumbled upon Derive as one of the best place or pretty much the only place really to trade options on chain and so that's kind of what everybody's been watching because I started chilling Derive back then when it was trading at like four cents it was like a 50 million dollar market cap and I thought that was ridiculous for like the only real place to trade options on chain so yeah

34:01
It's funny, like, can you show me how you trade the derive and the derive? Like, just walk through that trade? Because, I don't know, it's funny that the hottest trade right now in a perps meta, I suppose, all anyone's talking about is perps, and then all of a sudden it's like derive crypto options.
ThreadguyHOST
34:19
I really got it from Tulip King.

thank you so much for the satoshi news the thing is if you look at the fear and greed index right now the market is still at great but the number has gone down from 80 to roughly around 74 and according to me satoshi the geopolitical meeting that is scheduled to take place and i'm talking about president xi meeting president donald trump will definitely have a solid impact not just on the us economy but also on the price of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
GeorgeHOST
26:11
Now before we go and talk about 4 macro 11 news satoshi i wanted to very briefly tell our listeners information regarding bitmex and here's the thing guys after 11 years of operating in crypto derivative market and bitmex was most famously known for inventing perpetual swaps they have decided to completely cease the operation and the operation did actually shut down yesterday on the 23rd of September at 4 am UTC and because of that Satoshi trading operations have been halted which means all trading order execution And platform mechanics have ended for BitMEX.
GeorgeHOST

But so far as funds and custody is concerned, it is important to note that user funds remain secure and are currently held in custody.
GeorgeHOST
26:48
And so far as withdrawals are concerned, guys, if you are a user, you can still go ahead and log into your card and withdraw the remaining cryptocurrency balance at any point of time.
GeorgeHOST
26:55
But what I wanted to ask you, Satoshi, BitMEX officially shutting down, do you think it will have a long-term impact on the broader cryptocurrency market?
SatoshiHOST
27:03
George, the shutdown of BitMEX is truly the end of an historical era.
SatoshiHOST
27:07
They practically invented modern crypto trading by creating perpetual swaps, which remained the dominant instrument even now in 2026.
SatoshiHOST
27:14
However, looking at the long-term market impact, it's mostly symbolic rather than systematic.
DrewHOST
16:37
And honestly, I am relieved to see a little bit of pullback.
DrewHOST

TJHOST

Last week, I think I saw that they had hit, you know, the price on BitMEX hit like $150K and wiped out every single short that was on the books or whatever.
TJHOST
17:00
So one last scam wick for the culture, for the culture.

This young man by the name of Zhao Tong, he had a different idea.
Pete RizzoGUEST
1:59
He wanted people to be able to hedge and leverage trade, maybe more similar to what you're familiar today with like a BitMEX or a Cauchy or something like that, where you get into perps trading, right? He wanted to basically have a more vibrant trading ecosystem and he built an exchange called Bitcoinica.
Pete RizzoGUEST
2:17
which if you've been in Bitcoin for a long time, you will know is a tombstone in the history of the space, not dissimilar from Mt. Gox and other big stories.
Pete RizzoGUEST

Though this one distinguished, I think, because of just how early it was and the improbable rise of the founder and just how quickly he went from being a kid to thrust into the center of the business of a new economy.

That wraps your market intel.
Daniel HintonGUEST
30:50
When I started back in 2018 in that business, it was relatively common to see, you know, kind of shocking price disparities between either exchanges within a country, say, between Coinbase and Kraken, or within, you know, regions or across countries, right? So you would see dislocations, um, in the range of, you know, multiple percentage points, right? So, so three, four, five percentage points different between markets, and that type of thing just really doesn't happen in the market today as the liquidity profiles have been built out, as more market makers, as more sophistication in the order books, and the technology of these trading platforms have developed to avoid those edge cases where, uh, let's face it, you know, Bitcoin plays on hard mode, right? It, it, it really is a 24/7 global market, and for all of those little pockets of liquidity to have perfect liquidity at all times is a very difficult thing.
Daniel HintonGUEST
31:47
Um, even this, this last couple days, we saw, uh, with, with BitMEX winding down some of their markets.
Daniel HintonGUEST
31:55
Um, there was a particular perp market that had, uh, kind of a, an anomalous wick up to over 150,000 per Bitcoin just from a lack of liquidity, right? So, so those are the types of things that institutional participants, um, really get scared of, rightfully so, um, because, you know, if you have any margin or if you have any stop loss in those types of markets, you could potentially get wiped out and, and, and lose your Bitcoin in a catastrophic way.
Daniel HintonGUEST
32:23
So, so the, the good news is those things are increasingly rare.
Tom HunterHOST

Harborne owns a substantial stake in a country called Bitfinex, which is one of the world's major crypto exchanges, and Bendilo co-founded Bitmex.
Matt d'AnconaHOST
19:10

Matt d'AnconaHOST
19:13
What do they want from Reform? Well, they want all sorts of things.
Simon DixonHOST
15:16
expedite all of the rich people into tax havens, create some kind of immigration policy that manufactures the type of civil unrest, use algorithms in order to radicalize people so that they're all blaming each other.
Simon DixonHOST
