Our lives must stand out in a world of darkness.

I was just in North Dakota recently, in Bismarck, North Dakota.

Shout out to all the fine folks up there in North Dakota.

And when we were there, we went out into the countryside because we wanted to see the northern lights.

Sadly, there was incredible cloud cover, so we didn't get to see them.

But as we were driving back toward Bismarck, and of course it's quite flat in many regions, we could see the lights of that city as it brightened the night sky.

It's a city that cannot be hid, and it wasn't even set on a hill.

It was just bright enough it could not be hid.

I'm sure it was difficult that day.

I mean, it's difficult for many reasons, but you were away from Bismarck, I imagine, especially throughout the day.

You wanted to be back in your office.

And I know you engaged the state emergency operations center that day.

I imagine you probably got back to Bismarck by the end of the night, but how difficult was that to be away from where you needed to be at a time when communications were not nearly as strong or as good as they are today?

Yeah, well, like I said, we got a rental car right away.

We got back to Fargo pretty quick.

It might have been around lunchtime or thereabouts.

Maybe not here so much as some other places around the country, but

Well, some of the other places are probably horrendous, but even here, I mean, I challenge anybody, look in your history books in your school a day, whether in Bismarck, Fargo, wherever it might be, and have your son or your daughter bring their book home and look at it and see what it is.

I did that with ours.

Bulldog Volleyball kicks off its conference schedule in Bismarck versus Mary at 6:00 PM.

Bulldogs will then play at Minot State tomorrow at 2:00.
