They were probably all over the shop, but really bad pains is what led me to that.

And then afterwards, having the Implanon in, I had surgery for the endo, which sort of didn't really help.

And then Implanon did, but then got it taken out.

You have to only have it for three years and no periods for a very long time.

Oh my gosh, it ended up being three years or something ridiculous.

So it depends on the actual contraceptive that is being used, because an oral pill that gets metabolized by the liver, and we're relying on that for its efficacy versus an IUD is localized.

Or if you have Nexplanon, which is the insert in the arm that releases progesterone.

So there's different types of contraceptives that will work better or worse if you're on a GLP-1.

So it just depends on the patient's preference and how much they really want to prevent pregnancy versus want to try to get pregnant.

And progestins are in all of your hormonal IUDs.

They're in the Depo shot, the mini pill that you take when you're breastfeeding, a lot of the regular birth control pills, the implants that go in your arm like Nexplanon.

Those are all synthetic progestins.

I don't love those because they are not the same chemical that your body makes.

Yeah, so it's been researched more so with birth control, but they were all a version of the other, right? They were all altering things.

The implant is just a progestin implant.

The Nexplanon that they put in the little arm right here works similarly.

What are the rates on that? Is it similar to an IUD or an IUS?

No, it's similar.

Mirena is the highest one.

The Mirena is the 65% failure rate.

Most progestin-onlys, including the Nexplanon implant, is like a 42% breakthrough.

Again, like 50% of women almost are having ovulation.

If this is an improvement from normal life, then you just get used to it.
