On November 6, 2000, Boardman's abandoned vehicle, a brown 1990 Honda Accord with Maine registration plate 3403 JF, was found behind the Searsmont Municipal parking lot in Searsmont, Maine.

Boardman resided at 392 Whitney Street in Bingham, Maine, and had been reported missing by his roommates on October 5, 2000.

Despite multiple leads and interviews over the years, Boardman has never been located and the case remains unsolved.
