Billy Owens

So he doesn't end up like I mentioned with Sam Darnold earlier, a guy who never reached his peak because he was in the wrong situation.

You know, I remember, uh, who was it? Billy Owens.

I think Billy Owens was one of the top draft picks, uh, In, what was it, 92? He was taken by the Golden State Warriors.

He was third overall.

He was taken by the Sacramento Kings and then traded to the Golden State Warriors.

But Billy Owens had all the talent in the world.

And when you talk about guys that end up being busts, and even though he ended up averaging, I think, 14 points per game for his career.

I don't think I'm looking at it now.

Like, man, just...

Billy Owens, play some center, right? Like, he's just getting anybody out there because...

Nelly understood it, but it wasn't normal.

It wasn't popular.

I got Jim Boeheim at his son's AAU basketball game.

I got Derek Coleman and Billy Owens sitting at a bar on New Year's Eve.

I got Pierce Brosnan at a dive bar in Venice Beach watching a pool game.

I got John Smoltz at Buffalo Wild Wings lunch in Atlanta.

the Scots have a reputation.

There was a fellow I used to manage once called Billy Owens.

And he came over here and he was a singer, one of the earliest rock and roll singers.

And sadly he died, but boy, he had a chip on his shoulder and he didn't get in his way.

I remember when it took me two years to find him and he came into the office, he said, my name's Billy Owens.

And then he said, what's it to you? Oops.

Uh-oh.
