Billings Police Department

Cowboy State Daily's Colby Fedor reports Leland says he repeatedly found the man, but legally couldn't put him in handcuffs.

Chapman was hunting Sage Francisco Spang, who the Billings Police Department had been looking for for almost a year, wanted in the connection of a July 2025 killing.

Chapman says that he spotted Spang in multiple places, including a gas station on September 1st, as well as a local bar.

Then Northern Cheyenne tribal chief, Gene Small, told a local news outlet that there were warrants ready for this man's arrest, but they were waiting for a judge to sign off on them.

In an emotional move, Billings Police took a very special step in his honor, as Tracy Taylor reports.

Thirteen-year-old Chase Lance, who dreamed of becoming a New York City police officer, has been named an honorary officer by the Billings Police Department.

Lance was struck and killed by a vehicle on Grant Avenue in September while children were heading to school.

His family joined officers at Monday night's city council meeting for the ceremony.
