Bill Rogers

Is Ben Crenshaw back in the day.

So I was told that Bill Rogers here in town, he's friends with Crenshaw.

He said Crenshaw would be out partying all night.

Mainly people around San Antonio, I assume then?

Yeah, yeah.

I mean, I just, we have this big academy, so we're like, yeah, any of my clients or something, I had Bill Rogers on and he talked about playing Tom Watson and yeah, it was fun.

Good stuff.

He played on the PGA Tour.

But I also lived, uh, later on with Bruce Lietzke and Bill Rogers.

Um, Bill won the British Open and was ranked number one in the world at one time.

Uh, Lietzke w- won 14 times on the PGA Tour, won the US Senior Open.

Nicklaus, in his first week back in the US since his British Open victory, birdied four of the last five holes for a 66 to move into contention in the tournament that he won back-to-back in 1964 and '65.

Those at 67 included Ben Crenshaw, Hale Irwin, Bill Rogers, Mike Morley, David Graham, Bruce Lipsky, local area pro Dick Smith, and tour rookie Jim Neupert, a 24-year-old native of British Columbia who turned to golf because he wanted to be a pro in some sport.

In the back at 68 was this year's top money winner, Andy Bean.

Current Open champion Andy North shot a 70.
