Bill Radovich

One quick story for you, Prop C, and I think the lawyers or the aspiring lawyers will appreciate this.

The NFL Players Association really was founded on the back of a player named Bill Radovich, who was a U.S. military veteran, came home, wanted to move teams to be closer to his father.

And even though he was out of contract, they wouldn't let him move teams.

So he filed a lawsuit that then became the basis for, you know, that we won decades later, but they became the basis for free agency.

Little bit of a tougher sell.

But I remember sitting in that locker room and I told the story of a guy named Bill Radovich.

Bill Radovich was a player who was an All-Pro in 1941, I'm sorry, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942.

He ended up going to World War II, you know, to represent his country.

He went into the Merchant Marines.

And he was on a one-year contract.

His contract ended, and he realized that his father was dying of cancer in California.

And Bill Radovich went to the Detroit Lions owner and said, hey, look, I'm no longer under contract.
