The beginning, the, the beginning of this song is, is about, um, the first morning that I heard Bill Callahan's Drinking at the Dam-

... which was, I was waking up in the dorm room of a boy that I had had, like, really great, my first really great sex with.

He has great range.

You know, sometimes he goes low, like, like Bill Callahan style.

And then he can go high, and vocally, that's the cohesion on the record even if you get the twang on some of them, and a little more experimental-

The Sydney songwriter, musician, and novelist has spent over two decades building one of the most remarkable creative careers in Australian music and culture, releasing five solo albums, a collection of original children's songs, and two records as part of beloved supergroup Seeker Lover Keeper alongside Sarah Blasko and Sally Seltmann.

Along the way, she's earned five ARIA nominations, including two for Best Female Artist, toured with the likes of Paul Kelly, Joanna Newsom, and Bill Callahan, and written three critically acclaimed novels as well.

She is, in this host's humble opinion, one of the finest songwriters that Australia has ever produced, and last week, after a nine-year gap, Holly returned with Normal Magic, a record that is about finding wonder in the everyday, the ordinary, and the perspective that comes with time.

It's also a sonic step forward, which is bringing in new elements and pushing her sound in directions that she hasn't explored before this record.

And I just, I think I'm looking at this like, I don't know.

I think Bill Callahan does a great job.

So they fired Frank Solich and it's like, that's not good enough.

And then through Bill Callahan, Mike Riley, Scott Frost, and Matt Rule, they've been very, very, very mid.

Yeah.

They did.

It's been guys that have been around for a while.

They bring in Bill Callahan, who used to be an offensive line guru.

You can always make a case for the other side.

But they coached up that defense really well with Jeff Elbrick last year.

And I always played... slower music when it was busy and busier music when it was quiet.

Which is like, I'd play Chuck Berry when it was quiet and I'd play Bill Callahan when it was busy.

Bill Callahan, he had a band called Smog.

It's all this kind of like Americana guitar, folky.

And so I think there is the temptation in managing an environment is that you mimic So you pick busy music when the environment is busy.

I'm pretty confident in him as my second pick.
