They were mostly written or sketched out, but cut due to light in the boat, such as Gandalf's exploratory journeys, his relationships with Aragorn and Gondor, all the movements of Gollum, until he took refuge in Moria, and so on.

I actually wrote in full an account of what really happened before Gandalf's visit to Bilbo and the subsequent unexpected party as seen by Gandalf himself.

It was to have come in during a looking back conversation in Minas Tirith, but it had to go.

And it only represented in brief in Appendix A, pages 358 to 360, though the difficulties that Gandalf had with Thorin are omitted.

And I think that would actually have been really, like, to me, that's a fascinating project that echoes, like, the writing of the Red Book fictionally.

You know what I mean? Like, that's what was going on there.

They're digging through all that stuff, you know? All the different accounts and not just Frodo and Bilbo's, but going to Nicol Delving and reading through books.

Yeah.

We're going to leave the path and wander in the woods for a while.

You know, the hobbits are flashing back to dear old Bilbo's tale of what happened when they did that.

Yeah, as Arenal says, at best we'll end up in a cell, at worst we'll starve.

Or I guess at best, you know, you end up like Bilbo, miserably burgling the same house over and over again.

I think I am lost.

It's too thin.

It's like not enough butter scraped over too much bread as – I think it was either Frodo or Bilbo said in one of the Lord of the Rings movies.

And that's the issue with ensemble cast.

And so this feels very much like an amateurish mistake.

Like, there's a comic relief character that's like a little goblin who, if you like ASMR, the way that he kind of touches cups and stuff, amazing.

just trust me um but the the horned king there's no there's nothing funny he's so serious and evil and rising this army is so serious and evil it is spooky as hell and that is definitely one of my favorites of all time just the film as well um Bilbo doing that little face in Lord of the Rings where he's like give me the ring when his face goes like all grey and stretched and he looks like the kid from the Fight Star music video where they're in the London Underground that was lost to time as well but yeah that is another great like horror bit in non-horror the ringwraiths you know the Nazgul that's all the shit I grew up on dark fantasy stuff so not quite unexpected i would say but definitely surprisingly intense ray harryhausen films are one of my biggest loves that i don't get to talk about loads as well um which is you know that he basically pioneered a type of animation called dynamation which is like claymation but a little bit more advanced and has a bit more juge to it If you watch, I think it's Clash of the Titans, there's an ending scene where he has to fight these skeletons.

And it took them three months to animate this whole sequence with all of these skeletons jumping up and fighting this real life actor.

Oh, and it's like it's just so incredibly done.

Players are going to hold on to them and pray to God they can list them on eBay to sell to some greater fool.

But, like, if Magic does, like, the mono-blue Bilbo with a borderless cool foil that, like, fits in with the rest of the set... that's an $800 foil that like you get to chase at your, at your spotlight.

And then you sell it to a fan of the podcast or not fan of the podcast.

If people haven't thought about it, it shuts off Moonshadow, it shuts off Nethergoif, it shuts off Bilbo, it shuts off Flowstate.

It's only in Anticipate.

It shuts off Murktide if they play it, which they normally don't.

But the non-Tamiyo builds literally have Bowmaster plus... kaito and you have your own bow masters you have a bunch of removal spells so it's it's just it's pretty good at like making their deck look pretty foolish yoker yeah yeah yeah

Yeah, the Bilbo's are better than Merc Tides against combo decks, right? Because they just get you value.

So against like Mystic Forge, Show and Tell, Reanimator, and then Blue White as well, right? Like they get you way better value than the...

So I don't have like a premier blue white deck, but I'm not sad about any of the cards I end up having in my deck.

I have like three Bilbo of the common and one uncommon, no real bombs or rares.

I have one Bard the Bowman.

Um, As it turns out, the person passing directly to me on my right was also blue-white, and I saw their deck, and they seemed to have a very good blue-white deck.

So, like, in hindsight, my best deck could have been blue-red, I guess.

I think I passed four Pinecone Strikes in Pack 3, despite seeing none like the rest of the draft.

With those, have you even gone well with your blue cards, though? I think pretty good with Bilbo and just, you know, I had two Plunder the Trollshaws by the end of it and stuff like that.

I had, like, the card advantage part of the blue.

They treat war as kind of an adventure.

It's like Bilbo going off, I'm going off on an adventure at the beginning of the Hobbit movie.

That's kind of the way they treated it.

And then as the war progresses and progresses, it just turns into this completely depressing slog.
