It's Penny Marshall's best movie by far, which is not saying a ton because it's Jumpin' Jack Flash and Big are the other contenders.

Big's fun, but it's not to this level.

um and just great cast and like i'm not a big baseball guy uh sean you're not a baseball guy at all but still this hits for us you

know uh i gotta say before you guys get into it um the best thing about this podcast is that i really had never seen this movie and my expectations of what it was was very different than the movie that you guys are so familiar with um I think maybe one of the reasons why I never ended up watching it all these years is because, uh, first of all, I didn't know it was a true story or based on a true story.

You don't sometimes see Hanks play that.

I think he's, like, obviously had roles like that, but, you know, this is, like, right during the heyday of Hanks.

Like, this is after Bane.

Her next film was Big in 1988.

Big follows a 12-year-old who is too short to ride a ride at the local fair.

Bummed, he comes across a Zoltar machine and wishes that he were big.

The next morning, he wakes up in the body of a 30-year-old man.

Fun is really the core of the film as we watch the kid in an adult body find work at a toy company where he climbs the ladder of success because of his insight into toys being so incredibly valuable.

Everyone thinks he's a kid at heart, but he's an actual kid.

Big was an enormous success.
