I was born in southwest Virginia in the metropolis known as Big Stone Gap, population about three thousand.

And from age seven, I grew up not too far from there in the northeast corner of Tennessee in a little larger, but still pretty small town of about thirty thousand called Kingsport.

So my origin story, if you wanna call it that, is as a small town Southerner.
