Big Sandy Superstore

My name is Anthony Codispoti, and today's guest helped lead a regional furniture and appliance chain through one of the most disruptive periods in retail history, starting his role in April twenty twenty as stores across the country were shutting their doors.

Big Sandy Superstore has already survived seven decades by the time Ben arrived.

What happened next, a run of aggressive expansion, back-to-back recognition as the fastest-growing home furnishings retailer in the country, and a culture built entirely around employee ownership, is a story about what retail can look like when the people running the floor also own a piece of the outcome.

He is Ben Chase, sales director at Big Sandy Superstore, a thirty-location chain founded in nineteen fifty-three in Ashland, Kentucky, now operating across six states and earning over fifty-three thousand five-star reviews from customers.

Ben leads sales teams from his base in Columbus, Ohio, blending a design-first philosophy with a relentless focus on people and process.

But before we get into all that good stuff, today's episode is brought to you by my company, Add Back Benefits Agency.

We recently helped a client add nine hundred dollars per employee per year to their bottom line.

Results vary, but gains like that change how a business is valued.

Now, let's meet our members of the week.
