Some of the biggest names in India's private space ecosystem are competing for an ambitious satellite project in Assam.

Tata Advanced Systems, Bharat Electronics, Pixel Space and Agnikul, among others, are several space companies vying for the AssamSat project.

The initiative is being driven by the Assam State Space Application Centre, which has floated an expression of interest for setting up an Earth observation satellite system.

In total, 13 companies cleared the free pre-qualification technical and financial stages for evaluation.
