Bexar County

You know, look, this was one of the five seats that were targeted here in Texas, right? This used to be held by Congressman Greg Casar, but it was targeted during the mid-decade redistricting here in Texas.

Uh, initially it used to run from San Antonio to Austin, but they redrew it so now it incorporates the vast majority of San Antonio, Bexar County, and then it also has three rural counties right outside of it, Guadalupe, Wilson, and Karnes counties.

Uh, it's also a majority Latino district, and I don't think they were really understanding when they redrew this map what they were doing.

Uh, because they drew in a majority Latino base, and as you know, you got to see a poll that probably came out a day or two ago that shows the vast majority of Latinos are breaking from the party.

He never came on.

Now he's running for county executive for Bexar County, and God knows he'll probably win because there are some really stupid blue voters in the county.

The guy, the guy's afraid to come on.

Now I-- again, I don't have to give him equal time.

But it's ultimately their authority to do that.

And I think that other times that people just don't understand that the legal system, as much as it's in place and the Texas Supreme Court is trying to, and so is Bexar County, to really push forward these cases to move them faster, it still takes a long time.

So it's one of those where if they don't start talking money or being reasonable in the beginning, they may need to kind of get ready for the process in the long term.

The final thing is, I would say people need to understand if you file a lawsuit, we will be asking discovery of the other side.

One public health district has received more than twice as many calls about possible bat exposure as it had the same point last year.

San Antonio and surrounding Bexar County officials reported 22 cases of rabies in wild animals during June and July, compared with two or three during the same months in each of the previous two years.

The area has also recorded its first case of a pet dog in more than a decade.

Dennis Pradham of Silver Springs, Maryland, faced trafficking and delivery charges.

Democrats have a blue dog former deputy sheriff in Bexar County, Johnny Garcia, running against the brother of an incumbent Republican congresswoman, Carlos de la Cruz.

And so that race could be very competitive.

And then Monica de la Cruz, Carlos' sister, is vulnerable to a Tejano music star in the 15th district.

And I stayed there for a good couple of years.

And I won the San Antonio title, Bear County.

I mean, I did all these different things.

And fun fact, I was the very last girl to go on stage and do the swimsuit portion of the Miss America competition until they got rid of it.

What about San Antonio and El Paso? Both lean blue.

San Antonio, Bexar County, is a majority, Hispanic city with deep Democratic roots, though it's more culturally conservative than Austin on some issues.

El Paso is overwhelmingly Hispanic and heavily Democratic, but it's also got a strong military presence with Fort Bliss, which complicates the picture.

El Paso is a border town, and border politics in Texas don't map cleanly onto the national red-blue divide.
