and we have this here remaining consistent across all versions of the story is what betty bersinger encountered at ten fifty a m on january fifteenth of nineteen forty seven the body of twenty-two-year-old elizabeth schwartz was cut neatly in half the two parts facing up and separated by a horrific gap of inches looms across the body detailed a map of torture large pieces of skin and flesh were carved out and missing various knife and razor cuts had been made across the body some in graphic criss-cross fashion and others in a flurry of tiny slices yet others prominent and deep dark circular depressions around her neck wrists and legs evidenced by long periods of restraint either with leather or wire before her death were present even more shocking was what had been done to her face three-inch gashes had been ripped from both corners of her mouth nearly to the ears forming a contorted twisted smile the body had been drained of blood and scrubbed clean with a cocoanut fibre brush appearing stark white in the sun in contrast to the victim's jet-black hair now that's one big detail there and as you see very horrific things that were done to elizabeth short and i mean i think that this though is one of the crimes when you cannot spare the details And you cannot get away from some of these horrific things that happened.

He says 10.50 a.m. in his book, right? That's still the morning hours, but that's the late morning, pretty much.

How could nobody see the body walking by? And, you know, in other places, they're going to say these quotations from Betty Bersinger that she saw what she thought was a mannequin but upon closer inspection it looked like something a little bit more horrific and there were children who were going to school and she thought that they would be scared and that's one of the reasons why she took such a good look at it in the first place and then wanted to go to somebody's house to use the phone because it was um something that she thought would bother the children But this whole concept of how could anyone mistake this for a mannequin? When I first started the Dahlia Thursday segment, you guys were even saying that in the comment section.
