Greg SherHOST
1:21

4:06
well let's jump in here uh vishal uh There's a lot going on, obviously, at Better, and a lot of it has been out in the press.
Greg SherHOST
4:14
Why don't you bring us up to speed on where things stand at this very moment and how you're doing?
Ashley BedfordGUEST
11:29
Cause sometimes we have to do what we have to do, but you just providing that consistency of service and them knowing that you're going to be here.
Ashley BedfordGUEST
11:37
Like when you call that one 800 number to like fidelity mortgage or whoever, or better.com or, that does them for 500 and ai you're not getting that experience you don't have anybody to call whenever they have tax questions or all florida's a public record state so they're getting massive junk mail that some of it looks real and i don't care how smart you are some people still fall for it and making sure your veterans know that hey at six months they just bought a list of who closed 210 days ago and you're going to get massive things and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is because they're trying to build it in on these people so i I think just that presence and attention and making sure your knowledge gets out there because nobody knows what you don't know.
Ashley BedfordGUEST
12:17
And it's important.
Marc SummersHOST
12:20
Yeah, we live it every day.
RobHOST
24:48
You know what? Think about earlier on the podcast.
RobHOST
24:51
You know what I mean? Like if we go back and you go back and listen to like episode 20 and you're talking about dating, you know what? Let's just check back to better.com.
RobHOST
24:58
Let's see if we're talking about it.
RobHOST
24:59
We did this recently
RobHOST
25:08
what I mean? Now you're at a better place.
RobHOST
25:11
You're talking about your dating.
RobHOST
25:12
Literally, I turned on back to the better.com. You were talking about a date you were on.
RobHOST
25:16
And I know that date went well.
QHOST
34:53
And mortgages, we also don't talk about those.
QHOST
34:55
But Coinbase have teamed up with Better Mortgage to make a Bitcoin-backed mortgage more generally available.
QHOST
35:03
You can pledge Bitcoin as collateral and borrow against it.
QHOST
35:07
Crucially, you can skip a taxable event that you would normally trigger by selling.
Robert CroakHOST
34:40
I think this is really, really cool.
Robert CroakHOST
34:42
Better Mortgage and Coinbase just took their crypto-backed mortgage nationwide for Coinbase One members after closing their first ever Bitcoin-backed Fannie Mae loan back in June.
Robert CroakHOST
34:53
Here's how it works.
Robert CroakHOST
34:54
You get a standard confirming mortgage under Fannie Mae guidelines, but you can pledge crypto towards the down payment, and instead of selling it and triggering a taxable event, Coinbase One members can get approved and also get a lender credit worth 1% of the loan, up to $10,000.
Paul Goldsmith-PinkhamGUEST
47:53
So we may or may not agree with these, but these are certainly reasonable place to start.
Paul Goldsmith-PinkhamGUEST
47:57
Better Mortgage and better.com are, and SoFi are a good place to start.
Paul Goldsmith-PinkhamGUEST
48:01
Um, and now it's gonna...
Paul Goldsmith-PinkhamGUEST
48:02
it basically, uh, downloaded this data.
David BennettHOST

David BennettHOST

David BennettHOST
2:19
Matthew DeSalvo is writing it.
Diana OlickCORRESPONDENT
52:17
It's not the first crypto-backed mortgage, but it is the first to comply with Fannie Mae requirements for purchase.
Diana OlickCORRESPONDENT
52:22
Better Home and Finance, together with Coinbase, are offering a new mortgage that would allow homebuyers to use their crypto assets as collateral.
Diana OlickCORRESPONDENT
52:30
It falls under Fannie Mae guidelines, so it can be bought and securitized by Fannie like any other conforming mortgage.
Diana OlickCORRESPONDENT
52:37
All right, how does it work? A little tricky.
