The radio broadcast booth at Kinnick Stadium will be named in his honor as he enters his 30th year as the voice of the Hawkeye football and men's basketball programs.

For three decades, Gary Dolphin has brought Hawkeye Athletics to life for millions of fans across Iowa and around the world, Director of Athletics Beth Goetz said.

His voice has become part of the... family of the fabric of Iowa athletics, capturing some of our most memorable moments while representing our university with professionalism, integrity, and passion.

Naming the radio broadcast booth in his honor is a fitting tribute.

Athletics director Beth Goetz said in the announcement, his voice has become part of the fabric of Iowa athletics, capturing some of our most memorable moments while representing our university with professionalism, integrity, and passion.

Naming the radio broadcast booth in his honor is a fitting tribute to his extraordinary contributions and the lasting impact he has made on generations of Hawkeye fans.

Dolphin has been named Iowa Sportscaster of the Year three times, in 2000, 2010, and 2022, and was inducted into the Iowa Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

I mean, he's got enough capital, he can, uh, he can leave, uh, whenever he wants, but he can stay as long as he wants as well.

Beth Goetz is on record as saying that.

But LeVar Woods certainly would be a strong candidate to replace Coach Ferentz among those that have worked for him.

Uh, and LeVar, you know, LeVar's son, uh, who was the Iowa high school player of the year in some circles, uh, a year ago, is on the Iowa team.

But right now it is what it is, and, uh, he, he's happy doing what he's doing.

His health is good.

Uh, and Beth Goetz loves having him around, and so I don't see him leaving anytime soon.

But, but there's your answer.

That's the big difference.

And University of Iowa President Barbara Wilson, on support for Iowa Athletics Director Beth Goetz, who signed a contract extension this week, President Wilson says she has brought a vision and integrity to this role, and just as importantly, she understands what makes Iowa unique.

But that does put her in the middle of the Big Ten athletic directors tier.

Um, I think this is, like, universally praised and, and welcome for all the reasons we've discussed here.

There, there's a possibility Beth Goetz might get a little bit too much credit, and I, I give her a lot of credit.

But she might get too much credit just because she's done the things that were so obvious to anyone paying attention.

A contract extension for Beth Goetz, the director of athletics at the University of Iowa.

A press release coming out earlier today.

University of Iowa announcing that they have signed Beth Goetz, extended her through January of 2032.

Getz saying in that press release that she's incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the Hawkeyes and their student athletes.

She says she's thankful to President Wilson and the leadership for their trust.

Of course, she has been a favorite of many since she arrived, was the deputy AD, got promoted to the head job a short time later.
