Best Buddies International

I mean, first of all, I'm not the only person.

My brother Anthony leads the Best Buddies movement around the world now, which is about a friendship-based model for people with intellectual needs and for non-disabled people.

My brother Bobby worked in this, my sister Maria, my brother Mark, my cousins, many of my cousins have supported the work.

So I'm not the only one.

Well, this Best Buddies benefit, I'm going to have to keep you guys posted.

It's in like three weeks, and I have asked, oh, nine comedians to do it so far, and nobody's available, and I'm starting to panic and freak out, and it doesn't feel good because it's a big room at the comedy store that we're trying to fill.

So I'll let you know who the guests are.

It was a rocky weekend, but I'm back.

Other dates, I'm going to Fairbanks, Alaska, September 30th through October 3rd at various venues.

The store benefit, Best Buddies, October 14th.

That was back

with Alex Unworth, yeah.

And then he moved to that house, and then nobody heard from him, and...

Outside of the Best Buddies tournament, you didn't see him do much charity stuff around town or anything like that.

He kind of disappeared.

You won't

Hey, you know, people work fucking hard on these charity...

Like, I run a charity event every year that you've performed at for Best Buddies, and, uh, you know, charity is not charity.

You, you, you have to log a lot of hours, you gotta call in a lot of favors, and you should be allowed to wet your beak a little bit.

I'd say, you know, look at Jerry Lewis.

And so I got to start hanging out with them, and I just continued just to fall in love with it.

And then in high school, we have a Best Buddies program at Lamar.

And so just being able to be introduced to that at like a club fair and start going, you can go during lunch and just being able to start hanging out with them and just seeing them just every day for like the past two years has just like been such a blessing and being able to hang out with them has been super cool.

And with the workout world, my parents, I'm fortunate to have them.

Started limitless my sophomore year of high school.

I was going back and forth in between Finishing up my sport and so I was like, okay.

I have a lot of free time I kind of want to do something and throughout my two years of seeing the best buddies program just play out at Lamar I kind of noticed how the kids like they just have so much energy and so I started my first one January of my sophomore year and I had one girl And I think that was kind of, it was like a mix of feelings for me.

I was like super excited to start this program, but I think that was a little bit of a setback.

It's making sure that they know that they belong at the table.

So, Over this next year, you will see me speaking with my town mayor, which I had the opportunity to do so, and speaking about why it is so important what Inspire Dance Team is doing and other nonprofit organizations creating inclusivity is doing, and also continuing my work with Best Buddies as well.

It's another great nonprofit organization here in the state of New Jersey.

And also just trying to reach as many lives as I can to make sure that people know that they will always have a friend in me, regardless of where they are, who they are, and what walk of life they're on.

I'm a, currently a senior at O'Gorman High School.

I'm in choir, show choir, theater, Hope Squad, Best Buddies, and yeah, I'm so happy to be here.
