But it was definitely not easy at first, I must say.

However, the more I read, and you probably were reading all the same books as well, is everything from Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, you know, Bernie Siegel was really big at the time, Brian Schwartz, you know, all these fantastic teachers at the time.

I was in bed surrounded by books.

You know, I would read a little bit in this one and then a little bit in that one.

I was a kid, and I didn't understand it.

Did you hear of Bernie the Jew? Yeah, I have heard of him.

The mob guy? Yeah, was

he in the book Jewish Mobsters? Yeah.

Ha ha ha! No, but he was awesome, dude.

He had a glass toilet seat with coins in it.

Did you guys call him Bernie the Jew?

I mean, I didn't.

It is, but I also have to, and I have to fairly bring this up just because of my personal background.

I come from a Western medical family, and I have a father who is fortunately a very wonderfully, compassionately caring doctor who's been written in newspapers about playing comedy tapes during surgery just to help lighten the mood and to aid in the healing of the patients, much like what Bernie Siegel does.

But, you know, we talked a little bit on the phone before about these HMOs and about how the problem these days is that the number and the volume of patients that are needing to be seen from these doctors as a result or not as a result of the HMOs, I'm not going to get into this politically, but that they see about twice the amount of patients that they saw maybe 10 years ago and that this is causing them to turn these patients in and out and in and out and they're not really having the chance or the opportunity to give compassionate, loving, healing care that you're talking about.

What do you suggest? How do you see any type of light at the end of this tunnel?

And so if somebody comes to me and what they're dealing with is the emotional impact of trying to make this decision, and throughout my book, I give women permission to make whatever decision feels right for them, whatever they can get behind.

I love Bernie Siegel's work, Love, Medicine, and Miracles, because he talks about placebo effect, right? Get behind what you can absolutely, you know, feel good about.

And so I help women figure that out, help women figure out what is it that is going to be in their highest good, number one.
