so that's amazing bernie so uh i guess it'd be really interesting to start our discussion on kind of a bit of a primer on retail in australia what's changing how's it evolving heard some interesting news over the last few days about david jones there's a lot of volatility in many ways but also many things feel very familiar and stable here too so can you give us a sense of what's changing in retail here in australia but maybe more broadly as well, given your background?

Sure.

So I think retail generally is still undergoing a significant period of change.

If you go back to the old shopkeeper that used to look after the customer with the apron and what was the service mentality and wrap the pound of butter, etc.

And then we saw that sort of impacted firstly by self-service retailing and then post self-service retailing.

We see in the advert of scanning and the introduction of technology and then the World Wide Web.

And today we're going through this AI transformation combined with a real transformation that's been undertaken or disruption that's occurring in the market.

So I think it's interesting to understand, you know, how that leadership mindset might be different in these two businesses and why one is strong and the other is weak.
