there, I'm Bernard Keane, and today I'm talking with James Curran, Professor of Modern History at University of Sydney.

That's his day job, but my interest in talking to him is about this book, Grand Ambition, Paul Keating's Global Vision for Australia, which has just recently been published.

James is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the best foreign policy commentators in Australia, and his observations are always backed by an incisive understanding of of Australian history in terms of its foreign and security and defence policymaking.

We can care about what's gonna happen in 10 years, also care about what is happening now.

But I particularly like this take from Bernard Keane at Crikey.
