Ben Sollee

Her sad songs have drawn numerous accolades, including first place at the MerleFest Chris Austin Songwriting Contest.

Over the course of her career, she's shared stages with folks like Molly Tuttle, Kim Richey, Willie Watson, and Ben Sollee.

And this is her second appearance on Appalachian Vibes, maybe the third, um, but her first live performance with us.

Please welcome to the stage Catherine The Great.

One thing I love about your music is not only are you a member of and sit in with a bunch of other folks, and so you, byproduct of that, are really good at adapting on the fly and kind of just fitting in wherever you need to, but your music specifically that you do, I love kinda how you're blending, um, elements of bluegrass and classical in particular.

Reminds me a lot of another Moonshiners alum in Ben Sollee.

Mm.

Um, but was curious if you could tell me a little bit about your musical journey and kinda how it started and also kind of where and how those two influences in particular came along and kind of how you go about merging them.

I'm hugely influenced by her music.

So that's definitely one.

Um- Also, I'd probably have to throw in Ben Sollee in there.

He was a huge influence on me when I was growing up, and he's become a good friend, and I love playing music with him.
