Keith CornettGUEST
14:45
So very tough race.
Keith CornettGUEST
14:46
The yellow number 33 TF Sport Corvette with Nikki Katzberg, Johnny Edgar, and Texas native Ben Keating, they finished 12th in the LMGT3 class.
Keith CornettGUEST
14:55
And then the red number 34 Racing Team Turkey ATF entry by Charlie Eastwood, Selah Ulek, and Peter Dempsey finish 14th.
Keith CornettGUEST
15:03
The number 33 Corvette provisionally leads the team's standings by still nearly a full race advantage with three rounds to go the number 34 corvette is provisionally eight in team points but well within the range of those top three as well in the driver standings edgar casper and keating still sit one two and three however keating is tied for third going into that final three races of the season that next race for the fia wec for tf sport is the six towers of fuji september 25th through 27 at japan's fuji speedway so that's always a good race there and like to see the corvettes racing in the shadow of mount fuji
Graham GoodwinHOST
36:51
So yeah, we have all eight factories involved in our top 10 in hypercar.
Graham GoodwinHOST
36:56
In LMGT3 though, we came into the weekend with Johnny Edgar atop the points, Nicky Katzberg second at the points, And Ben Keating, third of the points.
Graham GoodwinHOST
37:08
Why is that unusual? Because they all drive the same car.
Graham GoodwinHOST
37:11
And that's come because Ben was obviously injured for the first two races and that Nicky missed Sao Paulo because he was on IMSA duty.
Graham GoodwinHOST
37:42
18-car field is amongst the top nine in the championship coming into this weekend in Kota.
Graham GoodwinHOST
37:50
Only one of those cars that came to Kota in the top nine positions in the championship scored a point in the race.
Graham GoodwinHOST
37:58
And that was the number 21 Visitor Air of Kota car, which now sits equal on points, those three drivers, with Ben Keating.
Graham GoodwinHOST
38:07
So it still means after this weekend, the top three drivers in the Drivers' Championship all come from the same car.
John HindhaughHOST
46:54
Mm
Tim GrayHOST
46:54
...is Ben Keating.
John HindhaughHOST
46:56
Yes, but he, he's not retiring.
Tim GrayHOST
46:59
No, he's not retiring.
John HindhaughHOST
62:41
so anything they can pick up now will actually be almost bonus points after the race that they've had even if they can only just get into the top 10 and claim a last point or two ahead of it would be unlikely that the Ben Manti 92 car from 16th and I'm just looking to see well though their laps down there are laps down on the leaders and I mean a significant amount of laps down they're not getting back in the points so not a great day for the 33 in terms of a result as it stands at the moment but not a bad day for the championship what a bizarre race this has been for all kinds of different reasons
Johnny PalmerHOST
63:27
yeah i mean if you look a bit further down the championship as well in fifth position tony mcintosh dan harper parker thompson they're 10th so only picking up a point each behind that you're looking at the 34 Corvette the sister car which is down in 14th position so actually you know on a day where your car's not that great because it's carrying quite a lot of success ballast you want your near rivals to be struggling as well and they all pretty much are I mean it's going to be potentially a very good result for Aston Martin whether they win it remains to be seen but looking strong for a podium result for car 27 but Car 27 had a cracking spa with a second place finish but otherwise they haven't scored any points so you could argue that they deserve a very good result finally this weekend but they are not a championship threat so that will be music to the ears of Johnny Edgar certainly and his teammates Nicky Katzberg and Ben Keating
John HindhaughHOST
64:23
You've got to give it to the heart of racing, actually.
John HindhaughHOST
64:25
Even in that field, they have got the best energy in terms of the LMGT3 field.

1 HR 25 MINS LATER

John HindhaughHOST
149:43
The Ben Manti now on 49 with the heart of racing number 23 car and Manti DK Engineering on 48 ahead of the second.
John HindhaughHOST
149:54
second heart of racing team.
John HindhaughHOST
149:56
Jonny Edgar, Nicky Katzburg and Ben Keating stay ahead of Alessio Rivera, Francois Aurore and Simon Mantz.
John HindhaughHOST
150:03
So they jump up now into joint third with Ben Keating and Ricardo Pereira, Richard Leighton, Yasser Shaheen do drop down.
Johnny PalmerHOST
27:15
A Kodis Lexus 78 for Tom Van Rompuy starts on the penultimate row with Anthony McIntosh or Tony McIntosh in his BMW.
Johnny PalmerHOST
27:24
And the final two cars, the championship leader Ben Keating, TF Sport number 33 with Johannes Zelger in the second orange.
Johnny PalmerHOST
27:32
of the AMGs.
Johnny PalmerHOST
27:33
That is the grid for the 2026 Lone Star Le Mans and the leading hypercars are nearing the end now of their second green flag lap.

16 MINS LATER

Johnny PalmerHOST
43:39
But yeah, the incident...
Johnny PalmerHOST
43:41
Now is that 11 or is that actually turn 12 at the end of the back straight but certainly it's the 61 AMG going down the inside of Alexander West so Martin Berry catches the back of West's McLaren and pitches the 58 car into a spin hence why Alexander West completed the first lap sadly in stone last 18th position.
Johnny PalmerHOST
44:04
still don't quite know why Thomas Floor lost so much ground but with all the jostling going on in the early stages it's very easy for various cars to change positions in that phase but yeah Eric Powell and Stefano Gattuso seem to be today's cream rising to the surface the question is can they sustain this sort of speed now for the next just under six hours they're only separated by half a second as well so Gattuso will want to get ahead of Powell yes they're teammates but they're differently funded initiatives meanwhile in the background for third position Ian James comes from a fairly long way back to stay ahead of Darren Young and now there's a spin for the championship leading GT car this is Ben Keating in Corvette number 33 exit of turn one and was he helped well there was a car in front of him and it was the first of the McLarens but what about the Ferrari in behind yep I'm afraid it was potentially Thomas Flohr that in the 54 car which has come from a bit too far back as Ben is turning into turn one Flohr arrives and wallops that Corvette and nerfs it into a big big spin so Keating who and there's the noise from his perspective inside the car putting a brave face on the situation this weekend because they're carrying a lot of ballast in that car 36 kilos I think it is because they're doing so well in the championship and they're really going to have to do it the hard way now from the back of the order
John HindhaughHOST
45:32
and there's no quarter being asked or given end of the back straight again Lexus on the Tony McIntosh BMW the red white very red white Levi's car this weekend and those guys are absolutely at it hammer and tongs this looks this looks like one of those Gran Turismo challenges that you get Johnny where you've only got 11 laps to go from the back of the grid to the front of the grid and McIntosh has got damage on the left rear of that BMW from WRT he'll have to call into the pits this next time by
Johnny PalmerHOST
43:40
Charmy Lacey drives the second placed Alpine and it has lost a bit of ground now.
Johnny PalmerHOST
43:47
to Earl Bamber because of that traffic but traffic giveth and it taketh away so we will find out whether Earl Bamber stumbles across some GT traffic of his own relatively shortly The other thing to point out is that well the 33 Corvette is really just trying to pick up any bits of points that it can at the moment it's out of the points but has now been handed from Ben Keating to Nicky Katzberg who could not race in Brazil because of an IMSA clash but he's back in the WEC paddock this weekend.
Johnny PalmerHOST
44:20
So let's see how the Dutchman gets on.
Johnny PalmerHOST
44:21
But they're down in 15th position with a very heavy Corvette this weekend.
Johnny PalmerHOST
44:39
So anyone that wins this race... have got a lot of ground to make up on the 33 anyway so it wouldn't be a disaster if the 33 didn't score any points unless of course the 92 actually the 92 is behind them Riccardo
John HindhaughHOST
44:54
Pera and laps behind
Johnny PalmerHOST
44:56
as well so the scenario is not as bad as it might feel right now for Ben Keating and others in the 33 camp
John HindhaughHOST
45:03
Nicky Katzberg is still effectively on a lap that would get him into the points.
Johnny PalmerHOST
10:42
Then they went and won Le Mans.
Johnny PalmerHOST
10:44
That was welcoming back Ben Keating to the trio.
Johnny PalmerHOST
10:47
So Nicky Katzberg, Ben Keating and Johnny Edgar were together again at Le Mans.
Johnny PalmerHOST
10:53
But then Nicky Katzberg had an IMSA clash.
Johnny PalmerHOST
10:55
when everybody else was in South America at Sao Paulo.
Johnny PalmerHOST
11:11
So Jonny Edgar comes here with 76 points.
Johnny PalmerHOST
11:14
Nicky Katzberg in the same car has got 72.
Johnny PalmerHOST
11:17
Ben Keating, having missed the first two races, is on 54.
John HindhaughHOST
9:06
You can tell me who was at the wheel of the number 33.
Johnny PalmerHOST
9:10
I don't know who you were going to say, but it's Ben Keating.
John HindhaughHOST
9:15
I was going to say Ben Keating.
John HindhaughHOST
9:16
I presume it's Ben Keating out first.
John HindhaughHOST
9:18
This is very much his home race, of course.
John HindhaughHOST
9:20
He's on cloud nine to be back here, still recovering from that nasty elbow injury that took him out the first part.
TommyHOST
33:46
Oh, my fucking God.
TommyHOST
33:48
Courtesy of Ben Keating.
TommyHOST
33:49
Is there any way to get...
TommyHOST
33:50
I'm
Tony WodeSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
34:56
We need to get that in
GroperHOST
34:58
the intro.
GroperHOST
34:58
Did Ben Keating have a word to that guy? Yeah.
GroperHOST
35:02
Definitely.
