Ben Brasch

There is a provision of the 50-some-year-old law that created the position that could now, it turns out, stand in his way.

My CityCast colleague Ben Brasch got the scoop, and he's here to explain what the law says, how this happened, and what it could mean for the city's politics.

This is a breaking news story, so for the latest, check out dc.citycast.fm. Today is Wednesday, October 28th.

I'm Michael Schaffer, and here's what DC is talking about.

Does he got the votes?

I think that if he did, we'd know that is just my political assumption.

And then if it if he did manage to get nine of his 12 colleagues to vote for this, the mayor would have to still have to sign or veto it.

They have been political rivals in the past.

Presidents will choose the city's first new mayor in more than a decade.

They'll choose two at-large D.C. council members, and they'll vote on whether foie gras is banned in D.C. My CityCast colleagues Ben Brasch and Tristan Espinoza are here to tell you everything you need to know before you vote.
