And I'm happy to know that even though this show is largely formulaic, it doesn't get stale and it doesn't feel overplayed.

Patrick, when you and I were first developing this podcast, we had a very long conversation about what counts as a Hunchback adaptation and what is appropriate for us to cover on this podcast, because there are a lot of movies and episodes of TV shows that feature a hunchback who may or may not be named Quasimodo and may or may not have an affinity for Bells, but otherwise have nothing to do with Victor Hugo's novel Notre Dame de Paris, or as it's known in the English-speaking world, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

When it comes to this story and the way that the story has been referenced in popular culture, the line between reference, homage, and adaptation can get quite blurry, especially in this case.
