Being John Malkovich

We all know that Willem Dafoe is not the maniacal, crazy person that he is.

Maybe Malkovich not so much.

There's a thing that's been making the rounds when they were making Being John Malkovich.

Oh, I've seen that.

The restaurant scene.

I'm sitting there going, I'm getting nervous that I'm going to fuck something up and have him yell at me.

Like, he's really intense with this story.

Because there's all those people wearing Malkovich masks.

Because it sounds like Spike Jonze on steroids or meth or LSD, but just how you can kind of blur the lines.

You know, a little bit of maybe The Office, a little bit of, what's that one? The Being John Malkovich, just kind of like weird warpingness.

So if that's anywhere close to what you're talking about, this sounds like this could be a ball.

No, it's crazy.

Orson Bean was like super, was old.

You remember him? He's in Being John Malkovich.

The weird thing about Orson Bean, he lived, he was born in 1928, died in 2020.

His third wife he married in 1993 was Allie Mills, who was the mom on The Wonder Years.

Sorry, speaking of bald things, an extremely funny, so we watched Being John Malkovich last night.

In a very funny film, possibly my favourite joke of all, yeah good

They're in, like, a comfy pub in Cambridge.

And it's extremely, like, this is the act.

They've just filmed it in the pub.

Right.

And of course, before Unbearable Weight, there was the being John Malkovich of it all, right? Where we did do this every once in a while.

That wasn't

necessarily based on Malkovich's cachet.

Being John Malkovich is a pretty fun movie where there's a portal inside the brain of John Malkovich.

That's the whole movie.

I don't get it.

I don't get John Malkovich.

You watch it, and

you won't get it either.

Lee Armstrong is a puppeteer, producer, and the co-owner of Images in Motion, a company that specializes in TV production, puppets, and 3D printing.

Lee worked as a puppeteer on three seasons of Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock and her other screen puppetry credits include Being John Malkovich, Follow That Bird, and Mustard Pancakes.

She won a regional Emmy for her special Land of Eye, and as a lifelong teacher, Lee has taught puppetry to thousands, as well as teaching the course Jim Henson and the Art of the Muppets at the University of California at Santa Cruz.
