Being Human

These are the three films that I got to see on the third day of TIFF, plus their Oscar chances.

I started the day with Being Human, which feels like a natural follow-up to Sean Hader's Best Picture-winning film Coda.

As a filmmaker, she continues to highlight communities that feel underrepresented, and she continues to tell stories in her very specific way, but this film feels a little bit bolder and a little bit bigger, while still being approachable enough that my liberal white mom is going to love it.

If Coda proved anything, this is going to be a hit, and it might get some nominations, but I don't see it winning anything.

He's also in-

He was the vampire in Being Human.

Yes.

Yeah, he was, uh, he was in, uh, Close to Protocol.

he would've been excellent in it.

I w- I wish he had that chance because he, he is a very good actor, but I feel like he's mostly kind of regulated to, like, TV series.

Like, uh, was, was that Being Human, Wolf, you had mentioned before?

Yeah.

You know what? Vampire involved with other things.

The US cut of Being Human probably top three.

I really loved that.

That was a really fun four season show.

Maybe that ties into that.

And what I find interesting, around the same time over here, we had Being Human, which is kind of-

Right

... a bit forgotten now and other- and that's a great...

Yeah.

And it's really, it's really interesting I think what happened there.

And Buffy, and you mentioned Being Human, I think Buffy gave way to a lot of vampire TV shows too.

Oh, yeah.

We've tested the movie.

Being Human is our next film in release.

And I'm so honored and grateful that Cameron Bailey and the whole team at TIFF called me and all of us and notified us that with the opening night film on September 10th, which is five days after your birthday, by the way.

Yeah.

Mark Ruffalo, Dylan O'Brien, our second film with Dylan, having starred in Twinlis.

which take Sweeney, Rob Delaney, just Will Brill, an incredible cast.

But the uniqueness of the movie, if you don't know this, I don't know whether you're aware or not, the movie was based on a book called Being Human.

H-E-U-M-A-N-N. Judy Human.

Anyway.

Number six is Being Human.

Yes.

Have a feeling this is gonna be good.
