She also spoke with director Lauren Lataro and actors Emma Bussey and Patrick Heusinger.

The world premiere musical Begin Again runs through October 18th at the Old Globe Theater.

Well, yes, Nick Jonas is in it with Paul Rudd, and this movie was directed by and written, co-written by John Carney, who also directed a series of other Irish set films about music.

He's also produced hits like Superbad, Walk Hard, Pineapple Express, Anchorman, Anchorman 2, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Talladega Nights, Begin Again, which we loved, and Bridesmaids, to name but a few.

TV credits include everything from the Larry Sanders show to the Ben Stiller show to the much-beloved Freaks and Geeks to the award-winning HBO dramedy Girls.

He's also directed and produced some outstanding and very moving documentaries like along with his creative partner and our mutual friend Michael Bonfiglio, including The Zen Diaries of Gary Shandling, George Carlin's American Dream, Bob and Don, A Love Story, and Mel Brooks, the 99-year-old man.

both? Another show that's about to start, it's out of town at the Old Globe in San Diego, which literally it says on the website, world premiere pre-Broadway is Begin Again.

Wow.

This is the John Carney movie.

Which

one? It's called Begin Again.

It's like it's based on literally one of my favorite movies from 2014.

Like when I was 14 years old, it's a movie with Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley.

Mark Ruffalo is the Hulk?

Yeah, he's the guy who plays Hulk.

Oh, to me, he's the music exec from Begin Again.

He's the guy that's like, I'm soft-spoken, but I'm also quirky.

You're also working on this show, which I know from others who have done this, this is a huge mountain to climb.

It's from the movie Begin Again, and you're writing, you're doing it.

What, tell me about that process.

Well, this was maybe the hardest thing I've ever done in my career.

Yeah.

And the producer liked my speech.

So then when Begin Again came up, uh, and the, the, there was another producer named Tamar Kleiman who was asking Bill, the producer of, uh, uh-

that movie so much.

But he does a movie called Begin Again, which is about Keira Knightley as a disillusioned, folky musician

whose

ex-boyfriend, played by Adam Levine, becomes a slimy pop star overnight and steals one of her songs.
