Before He Cheats

Interesting.

Um, Lunchbox, what blonde singer had the hit Before He Cheats?

Carrie Underwood.

Correct.

After everything you've read and heard in the last few weeks, you don't need me to tell you Dolly Parton is a songwriting and singing legend.

But all of the remembrances since late August haven't explained why some of her greatest hits weren't bigger pop hits.

For example, the legendary Jolene only reached number 60 in 1974 on the Hot 100.

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene.

Where do you begin when you've never been out on your own?

Starting Over Again reminds us that anything Dolly Parton touched turned into country music.

This song was written by Donna Summer and her husband, Bruce Sudano, who just a year before it became a country hit, had scored disco hits of their own, like Heaven Knows.

Heaven knows it's not the way it should be.

You're listening to 96.7 KBEL.

Here's Carrie Underwood before he cheats.

That's Carrie Underwood, Before He Cheats.

That was released back in 2006, and Carrie actually didn't even write that song.

Did she not? She didn't.

Which...

And it's, um, Before He Cheats, Carrie Underwood.

Correct.

I love that song.

I don't know why.

And I don't know why this song I wrote down, I don't know if it was like just the vibes, obviously, like not necessarily exactly the storyline, but kind of the vibes of it reminded me of Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood for some reason.

I don't know why.

That's awesome.

You're live on Trading Lines.

Uh, there's a country song, it's called Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood.

Oh, yeah.

Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood.

All right, who do we have on the phone?

Emily Huffer.
