Beetlejuice

And even so much as my good buddy, Ryan Stamiger, he's still non-union.

He's on the non-union tour playing Beetlejuice.

I could not have been more excited for him.

But if he had been union, he may not have had that opportunity because that tour wasn't staying union anymore.

Well, it did bring in a crowd.

On the night I went along, Casey Donovan was in the audience and Karis Oka, the Queen of Beetlejuice.

So, you know, clearly they'd seen my news report.

Honestly, like I genuinely think that's where a lot of people had come from.

But a lot has happened between the last time we spoke and now.

So here's what's making news this week.

Eddie Perfect has launched his own record label, Excited Animal Records, with Beetlejuice the musical live at Regent Theatre Melbourne, announced as its first release this Halloween.

The album will bring the acclaimed Melbourne production to listeners, preserving the live theatrical experience beyond the stage.

I was recently sat here under green lighting talk- excuse me, hold on.

Under green lighting, thank you, talking about Beetlejuice closing here in the West End.

Prior to that, we were talking about Six: The Musical closing on Broadway, which feels quite proximal in many ways to today's news that & Juliet, are we pink again? Did we make it? We got there, is going to be concluding its admittedly very impressive run at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in the earliest days of 2027, around the same time that Six will be closing at the Lena Horne.

And obviously both of those shows originated here in the UK.

This is a very popular time for closures.

Six is shutting up shop around the same time.

Beetlejuice here in London also.

It's because the holiday season, late December and New Year's, brings an awful lot of tourism.

I know that they canceled their Australian slash Asia tour, and now they're canceling the West End early.

So clearly Beetlejuice is, I think there's just some fatigue.

It feels like we are oversaturating kind of that name and that show.

The people who want to see it have seen it, it seems like.

they invested

all that money when Beetlejuice 2 came out.

And they were like, oh, this is going to be the Beetlejuice wave.

Um, this time it was very Gen Z.

So they were playing a lot of songs from, uh, the Beetlejuice musical, which is not that good.

Um, [laughs] and they were playing songs from like The Outsiders and the Shrek musical and Mean Girls Musical and Heathers.

And all of those are fine, but I would prefer [laughs] they skewed the other end of the spectrum a little bit more, but we still had fun.

Are those new musicals like iconic enough to anybody who would wanna go to this club in the first place to like sing and-

S- yeah, you could see a little bit of this, except for the Beetlejuice.

Beetlejuice was like a big crowd pleaser.

People loved the Beetlejuice songs.
