If you just want a traditional hedge back... that is more wildlife friendly then ordinary Fagus sylvatica which is beech will do the job for you so you could just have a beech hedge of course you could go for copper beech which is Fagus sylvatica purpurea and that will give you a reddish tinge to your leaves during the growing season and of course beech holds on to its leaves but they go brown so it is still deciduous it still loses its leaves but they tend to hold on to them.
