I resisted live video in my business, even though I've got like literally I'm the face of my business.

Bec SandsGUEST
You know, I resisted live video for three years and I was literally just, I'll just do a social post or I was doing reading off scripted videos.

Bec SandsGUEST
And it was like, you know, and it just felt awkward and it took so much energy and it was just like, it was hard.

Bec SandsGUEST
And so what I did was I just every single Friday, I would go live on Instagram and I was like, I've just got to do this.

Like tell me how did you even land in this amazing book called what you came here to create and what's the most important message right off the top that you want people to know about.

Bec SandsGUEST
Like, you know, it kind of feels like, yep, I'm just doing my first book and then it's all kind of just happening now.

Bec SandsGUEST
So initially I was in corporate and I just knew that I wanted to do something different.

Oh, look, this happens to all of us, and I think we've all got this inner critic that does come up, and it does say, you know, it, it says you're not good enough.

Bec SandsGUEST
And I think this is just because this is just the human brain, and this is just the way that it works.

Bec SandsGUEST
We all have this inner critic, and what we really need to do with it is look at what stories are coming up for us and question those stories, right? Like, say, "Is that actually true for me? And does that story serve me? And is it actually true in reality?" Because often these are just stories that we're telling ourselves from the past that we can look at and really reframe in order to move forward.

Bec SandsGUEST
Um, I talk to women mainly because that's, you know, that's who I work with, um, but also I am a woman.

Bec SandsGUEST
But I think that, you know, the difference there is that women's looks are often scrutinized a lot more in the media.

It's going to be, if you're actually feeling uncomfortable, it probably means that you are leveling up because you're growing and learning and it's not as easy than if you were doing something else.

Bec SandsGUEST
And it's actually important to lean into the discomfort a little bit within reason.

Bec SandsGUEST
Is this something that will support me to get to where I want to go? And if so, then lean in, you know, and start to start to take that action.

Carina O'BrienHOST
Is it worthwhile that like you sit down and document it or is it just saying it out loud to yourself? What are some useful practical strategies that people can employ to really change that mindset shift around logging? what they're the internal voice the internal stories that sometimes when we write it down may not be true um it's just the way that we're perceiving it and this what we're telling ourselves
