It just goes to show how the 60s were pretty much a trading of influences back and forth.

Traditional English folk gets wrapped up in country and bluegrass, which is then being developed in tandem with the blues, which trades influences back and forth, which then mingles with jazz, which then travels back across the ocean to become skiffle, which then mingles with rockabilly and R&B, which has been growing in the US and becomes Merseybeat and British R&B, which is then reintroduced to the US via the British Invasion, which inspires many of the folk revivalists to go electric, and so on.

It is never one-to-one, and it is never linear, but the conversation was continuous, and She Loves You was a big part of that.

Plus, Paul's idea to move the lyrics from a mix of first and second person to second and third person was a departure from what they had been previously doing.

Yet this invasion wasn't merely musical.

It was also stylistic with denim jackets, narrow ties, and the swagger of Merseybeat translating into a new fashion codex.

Teenagers' fascination with these looks showed a shift in consumption patterns.

The youth market became a driving economic force.

Uh, a lot of people didn't know this about the band The Beatles.

The Beatles is because of B-E-A-T, like the beat of music, not the animal or the insect beetle.

But by 1968, the sound was changing.

The Mersey Beat era was giving way to something more soulful, more rhythmic and more sophisticated.

And the chants were changing with it.

John McNally was born in 1941, founding member of the 1960s Merseybeat pop group The Searchers.

Dana Rosemary Scallon was born in 1951.

She is an Irish pop singer-politician who achieved international fame by winning the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest.

He played drums and vocals for the 1960s Merseybeat group The Searchers during the height of the British Invasion.

Bob Cowsill was born in 1947, co-founded and sang lead vocals in the 1960s family harmony pop act The Cowsills, who inspired the TV show The Partridge Family, by the way Michael Chetwood was born in 1954.

Michael took care of the keyboard parts for the 1980s British pop rock band T'Pau.
