Beartooth Highway

Those may see some snow.

Beartooth Highway will definitely get some snow right now.

May close.

Can't really guarantee much there because it just depends how much precipitation actually falls.

Now, this family that we're talking about is the Edmonds family from the Cody area.

who's been picking up the road from the Beartooth Highway four miles back toward the Clarks Fork River since 1993.

And that's, they're heroes.

And so when Mrs. Edmonds, who's 93 years old now, made the decision that they were going to end their run picking up the highway, we wanted to recognize her and her family the many friends who've helped them through the years.

High Point was really cool.

This picture here shows Beartooth Highway in southwest Montana and northwest Wyoming.

Glacier-laden peaks, alpine plateaus, lakes, waterfalls, expansive forests combined to create a spectacular 68-mile ride through southwest Montana and northwest Wyoming.

That's like a pretty cool place.

There's going to be some construction here and there, but that should be minimal.

I do want to say that probably this weekend when all that rain is going to start falling, Beartooth Highway will more than likely see some snow.

It saw snow last weekend, and it should see snow again this weekend.

I don't think it's going to get cold enough in the park to really have any snow, but it could.

So definitely go by there.

But also go up to Cook City.

And if the weather is good, go up to Beartooth Highway.

There's a lot of marmots there.

The first snow of the season already recorded in Wyoming.

Of course, Beartooth Highway.

They get it first almost every fall.

We're still in summer technically, right? Although in Wyoming, I don't know.

It's not right, not right.

Already got snow in Wyoming.

Whenever you get that early snow, it's likely to be up there on Beartooth Highway, man.

That's the last place to get cleaned off as we head into spring and the first place to get snowed on again.

So you can go Tower Roosevelt to Canyon and then in Hayden Lamar, and you might see a grizzly bear.

If you go out toward the Beartooth Highway right now, that's a high elevation area.

There might be more grizzlies out there.

I will be keeping track of where they are and trying to let you know when you're visiting.

It might snow in the Beartooth Highway, so do not be surprised if the Beartooth Highway closes Sunday, maybe Saturday as well.

medicine wheel pass but it's the it's the big horn mountain range big

horn both those passes were so so fun we saw so much wildlife elk uh coyotes we saw a little fox that actually hung out and almost looked like he wanted a dog biscuit from us because he didn't leave you know and bison So the passes getting up from flat up into high altitude like that, and the roads were just so perfect.

Cook City, yes.

That was a gem.

We were headed up and we were like, hey, we're going to hit Beartooth Pass at night.

We don't want to do that.

I often talk about scenic roads in the park tucked away off the main areas.

I've also been known to constantly tell people to drive the Beartooth Highway, Chief Joseph, and the road between the east entrance and Cody.

I even recommend driving Old Yellowstone Road north of the park.

This week, I'm continuing my tradition of telling you to find the roads less traveled while visiting Yellowstone and highlighting the often overlooked Grassy Lake Road.

So we flew into Bozeman, um, visited some buddies, and then went over to Red Lodge and hiked the land in East Rosebud a little bit, which is a beautiful spot, and did a little scouting there for future hunting opportunities, um, try and kinda expand our hunting area as, as things get a little tougher to hunt in Idaho.

Um, and then drove through the Beartooth Pass, did Yellowstone, saw the buffalo, and went to Jackson Hole, and then ended up getting to the spot that I typically go to about three days early, um, which was, you know, right on par with what I typically do.

And we were able to do some scouting and found some elk, which was, which was really cool.

You know, we were tented out and, um, my wife is, um, she's not a big fan of bears.
