Bear attack

Here's an update to a story that we aired earlier this week.

Evidence at the scene of a grizzly bear attack near Columbia Falls revealed that the bear involved was a female with at least one cub.

The attack occurred around 7 p.m. on August 31, and the victim was a woman walking with her dog on the Cedar Flats Trail Complex north of Columbia Falls.

Investigators also located a white-tailed deer carcass approximately 100 yards off the trail.

How many times am I going to say that? I don't know.

Bear attacks in Japan have hit a record high with 13 deaths and more than 220 injuries recorded between April of 2025 and March of 2026.

Sharp increase from the same period of the year before when three people died and 82 were hurt.

So we're really jumping up.

And his story in this particular story happened in 1823 and became a legend in a Philadelphia literary journal called The Portfolio in 1825, where Glass apparently survived a grizzly bear attack, was left for dead by his companions.

And then obviously the rest of the story ensued.

So we have in 2002, Michael Pionke, or Punk, he writes a novel of revenge called The Revenant.

It's certainly a busy time for bears across Colorado as they're trying to fatten up and get ready for the winter.

Here's a story about some bear attacks in Colorado and New Mexico.

Colorado's historic drought is driving bears to go places and do things that we normally don't see at this scale.

Just today, CPW says it was investigating its third reported bear attack in the last three days.

You can't call someone homeless.

You don't know where they've been.

They're experiencing it temporarily when that bear attacks them.

August 13th, trail runner Claire Rhodes ended up with only minor injuries of claw and teeth marks after a bear attack.
