Baystate Marathon

Another outrageous one, which is a marathon in the U.S. totally fumbles here because they didn't get the proper certification and their winners are now going to be... horribly punished for it in a sense.

Let's unpack the details of the Bay State Marathon fiasco.

Yeah.

So Spencer Frisky and Caitlin McGinley both won the Bay State Marathon in Lowell, Massachusetts, on October 18th.

And they were both inside the very challenging 2028 Olympic Trials qualifying standards.

That's a very hard time to hit.

i'm always respectful of everybody man i say stay on that guy but if you're still selling after i say i'm not interested then that's when i start okay come on dude come on dude anyway stop racing the same distance over and over again and stop only running marathons if you want to get faster this is something when i reflect on my 2026 body of work the year of training and the year is not over but i really think my last training year goes from bayshore I keep messing up Bayshore and Baystate.

My last training year goes from Baystate Marathon October 2025 to Chicago Marathon 2026.

A brutal race administration story.

Uh, at the Bay State Marathon in Massachusetts, Spencer Friskin ran 2:15:04, and Kaitlin McGinley ran 2:36:08.

Both performances were inside the published 2028 Olympic trials B standards, 2:16 for men, 2:37 for women.
