60-year-old Paul Calucci was last seen on September 8, 2021, at the Roaring Brook Campground in Baxter State Park, Maine.

He had booked a two-night stay at the Russell Pond Campground and arrived there around 9:45 AM on September 8th.

He parked his light green 2015 Toyota Prius at the Roaring Brook parking lot, where he intended to leave it during his stay.

On Monday, October 28th of that year, two women, Helen Maurer and Margaret Ibasik, both from Concord, Massachusetts, took the Cathedral Trail and climbed Baxter Peak on the mountain.

They reached the summit and stopped to have lunch at around 1:30 in the afternoon.

Hoover had traveled from Texas to Maine to hike the Appalachian Trail.

Hoover was an epileptic and did not have any specialized equipment or knowledge for hiking.
