Battlefleet Gothic

Totally fucking reasonable.

This is one of my favorite things in the tabletop of Battlefleet Gothic is that frigates have one shield and one hull.

Yeah.

They just blow up if you hit them with one thing that goes through the shield.

Yeah, we do need to ding it a little bit on the, like, you name-dropped the 40k boarding action game.

Yeah, no, I do think you could simulate basically every fight in this that isn't a starship battle in Zone Mortalis.

I named-dropped Battlefleet Gothic, but I don't know if that even counts at this point.

Because that game is not supported.

Yeah, the Space Marine one loading the shell is a feat where he's pushing that giant shell.

That shell actually has a stated weight in the Battlefleet Gothic books of 300 tons.

Now, granted, is that something that GW is going to keep consistently? No.

Let's not go there.

They use like, what I'm trying to say is they use space marine ships.

Right.

They do have a unique model in Battlefleet Gothic for their ships.

Yeah, they do.

There's also suits of armor that have been possessed by human souls.

Who's the Grey Knight captain during the Battlefleet Gothic event? I can't remember his name.

During the Gothic War?

yes there was a gray knight who died uh in a more recent book a gray knight uh a gray fax book he comes back and he has possessed his aegis armor and he comes back as basically a ghost warrior for that battle and then crumbles i

were very much at the bottom of the pile when it came to priorities.

That's not to say that some were not granted major storylines, such as Battlefleet Gothic handling the aforementioned fall of Cadia, or in Mechanicus diving into the depths of the Necrons, a Xenos race who have had pretty minimal lore expansion until again more recently.

All the likes of Rogue Trader and Darktide, some truly next-level developments that have accelerated the path of 40k toward a wider audience.

Yet before all of these, there was Space Marine.

But I can't say I wasn't tempted.

Yeah, I mean, I'm always tempted by smaller scale stuff because it seems like it's actually much less work than painting up massive 28mm armies, but I think if I'm going to get out, well, I'm already getting into Battlefleet Gothic, which I think is what really tempts me.

And actually, that's another 20-odd-year-old game.

So I've got my Oak Fleet getting ready.

So I'll recommend that.

Maybe I need to learn to play it and get on Paint all the minis, and then you'll be like, oh, Callum, do you want to play Battlefleet Gothic? I heard you talking about it the other day.

No, I did exactly the same as you, though.

I think you mentioned it last week as the blood bowl.

And then, uh, Guilliman leaked in a White Dwarf because they sort of managed to get their hands on it, and I did a video about that, and that kind of took off.

Um, I got-- Do, do you know [chuckles] where I got my main followers from? Um, there was a game called Battlefleet Gothic.

Um, uh, it was a digital game, and I uploaded loads of cinematics, and I got, like, millions and millions of views on there.

Really?

it, it, it worked out great for me.

Yeah.

Battlefleet Gothic.

I, I actually have it.

oh yeah here's this cool thing alexis you can't have it

And I'm just like, something behind that cool thing is like Battlefleet Gothic.

And it's like, you can't have that either.

Someday they will.

Well...

With that, the translation to real space and our endeavors to finish up the Battlefleet Gothic game, I think that is where we will call it for today, everybody.

Yippee! Yippee! Good job, everybody.

That was a fun session.

He

deserved it.

He got his Battlefleet Gothic episode.

He did! No!
