Battlefield Mall

Okay

... at the Battlefield Mall.

Okay.

So when I was graduating from college, I had completed my student teaching, and I could go find a teaching job or I could manage the store, and at the time, I made a financial decision.

I applied to every single makeup counter in my hometown, every Sephora, every Ulta, every single counter that was at Macy's or Dillard's.

I went into the Battlefield Mall for countless interviews, just begging them to give me a job, and it was just constant rejection.

I feel like a lot of people would kind of take a step back at that point and be like, "Hmm, I can't get a job in Springfield, Missouri at the Battlefield Mall.

Maybe this isn't for me." But instead, I was like, "I can't get a job in Springfield, Missouri at the Battlefield Mall.

I'm gonna move to LA because that's where I'm gonna make it." And I feel like it's so crazy to reflect on now, and I definitely sounded like an insane person at the time, but I am so grateful looking back that I did get the rejection like that early on in my career.

Kris Jenner, she says it the best, right? "If the answer is no, you're asking the wrong person," and that was something that I kept in my mind from day one.
