Battle of the Trench

So the Meccans send 10,000 soldiers to Medina in 627 AD and Muhammad digs trenches all around the city.

It's called the Battle of the Trench.

This renders the cavalry of the Meccans useless.

You can't charge your horses across a field full of potholes.

It is narrated by Hazrat Ibn Abbas that the words, "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil," Sufficient for us is Allah, and an excellent guardian is He, were uttered by the Prophet Abraham when he was cast into the fire.

The Holy Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wasallam, also uttered the same words when the people said to him, "These people have made great preparations against you, that is the disbelievers, so you should fear them." According to the commentators of the Hadith, these words were uttered on the occasion of the Battle of Uhud, Hamra'ul Asad, or perhaps at the Battle of the Ditch.

This only increased them in faith.

And they said, "Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakil." That sufficient for us is Allah, and an excellent guardian is He.

All of these You can say ideas, you can connect it back to the theme of taqwa.

Then the second passage is a reminder to the believers through the events of the battle of Ahzab of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala's favor.

So Allah is reminding the believers, remember Ahzab, remember how you guys were fearful, remember how Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala protected you and he chose you and he favored you and protected you from those that wanted to hurt you.

And then there's the examples of those who broke their covenant, broke the promise that they made, and those who remained faithful.

If I were to do it my way subhanAllah it would have been a disaster but Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala put all these things in place for me for me to get you know this and what's happening for me right now.

So to have tawakkul in Allah azza wa jal and know that وَكَفَىٰ بِاللَّهِ وَكِيلًا and Allah is the best protector for the believers.

And then we have the idea of the battle of Ahzab and it starts in the ayah number nine يَأْيُهَ اللَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ So Allah when he talks about the battle of Ahzab he mentions it to be a ni'mah which is ajib.

It's a battle people are going to die you know bad things are going to happen but Allah says remember the blessing that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gave you and Allah is going to mention why.

So you do understand that there are numerous occasions where Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, has told his followers, his companions, that he is only a human being, and unless it's revelation- That they don't have to follow him.

For instance, the Battle of the Trench, where, uh, you have people-

You familiar with that?

So they missed out on the Hijrah.

They missed out on Badr, on Uhud, on Khandaq, and everything that's happened on Hudaybiyyah.

And now, Khaybar is finished.

And Ja'far radiAllahu anhu and his companions, they arrive.

Country, Mamlakat.

Ditch, Khandaq, Khandaq.

Ditch, Khandaq or Ghod, Ghod.

Ditch, Ghod.

Farm, Keshtzar, Keshtzar.
