Battle of Pozières

I'd just like to apologise for last month where I didn't get my episode up in time, but unfortunately sometimes life just gets in the way.

Anyway, here we are, we're back into the second episode of the second part of the Battle of Pozières.

So as I said, this is the second one in this second group of episodes on the Battle of Pozières.

If you haven't checked out the previous four episodes, then it'll be a good idea to go and have a listen to them, otherwise this one will make very little sense, which is the same as could be said for probably 90% of the episodes I put up.

They're not in, they, they suspect it's gonna be primarily from the, the, the southern flank that's gonna be launched by the British Reserve Army.

They've been fighting along the Pozières Ridge for this very purpose.

They also know they have to be a bit aware about an attack coming from the west, even pressure coming from the northwest.

So the Germans have set up Thiepval for all round defense.

So this is really, really useful.

The other thing that's useful is the British have captured some really important high ground.

The Pozières Ridge battle has not been in vain.

It's allowed Royal Artillery observers to get up onto that ridge, and they can look into, to an extent, it's not complete observation, but they can look into the Thiepval defenses and, connected by a telephone line and armed with binoculars, they can correct the fall of shot in real time, and that makes it far more accurate.
