Battersea Power Station

I think this is probably going to be the only one that's called higher.

It's at Battersea Power Station, hence the voltage thing.

But one of the things I'm trying to work on now is sort of a more cohesive branding for this whole new venture.

So there is going to be new branding there.

And Battersea of Corn.

Battersea Power Station, and not just Battersea Power Station, but the whole Nine Elms.

And that, again, is an interesting story.

I'll give you a very short version of that, is that We were appointed by Basset Crown Station, Treasury Holding at the time, and we started working on what we would now call a placemaking strategy, which was an all-encompassing idea of what was this building, what did it represent, how did it connect beyond its red line? And we started to think of it not as something just inside this sort of area, but anchoring, if you like, the river from...

I started with a shard at one end, almost the diagonal line of the shard to the four lines of the chimneys of Battersea Power Station.

You can almost see that as a graphic.

And this whole idea of the river slowly being turned into a cultural experience rather than a trading river.

Yeah, that is one of the best places to run.

And then I know they've got like a new, the Battersea Power Station's got a bunch of cool shops and food.

And it looks cool too.

It's like an old, I don't know, it almost looks like an old nuclear plant or something crazy.

I think there's like a company that runs that.

They're like way high up in the air through the parks.

I mean, you could probably spend a good weekend just doing Battersea Power Station, Battersea Park and hanging out.

And then the nice thing is you're on the side of the track for that, which is, you know, not usually the case for most hotels.

It's also home to one of the most famous album covers in rock history, allegedly.

As you probably know, this is the 40th anniversary celebration this year of Transformers the Movie, and there's been a lot of posters and merchandise featuring a dead Optimus Prime.

There was a wake held for him at Battersea Power Station, which feels so sad to me because it kind of feels like they need to do that again, but perhaps that will be seen as in poor taste.

I'm sure lots of those things will be removed or reworked, but I do kind of hope there is a way to tastefully acknowledge what's happened in a way that doesn't feel like it's capitalizing on it.

I think that's a really delicate, maybe impossible thing to do.

We're going to look for this Mayan temple that we're pretty sure exists," chances are most people would go, "Wow, amazing.

What a cool expedition." If I said, "I'm gonna go and sneak into Battersea Power Station before it got turned into a shopping mall," they would probably not be that cool with that.

What's the difference?

Well, let's, let's, let's find out why, why wouldn't they be cool with it, do you think?

I, I would guess that the subconscious sense is I would be looking for something that we could learn from, that would bring something back for our global community.

I'd be finding something out that would be interesting and relevant and useful.

I would say it's far more ethically sound for you to go and look at Battersea Power Station than it is t- for you to go off to South America.

Like, why can't South Americans go and look for Mayan ruins? It's on...

We're 10 floors up, looking north to the city.

And we see from the Millennium Dome all the way over to Battersea Power Station.

We have a very spectacular horizontal view of the city itself straight ahead of us.

Although a lot of people say, "Oh, the top floor is very spectacular," I almost feel like these covered spaces are cinematic-
