Batman Forever

So the film, when it came out in, was it 98? Yeah.

98 yeah was kind was this led by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman but I think Sandra Bullock was slightly the bigger star then she had done Speed in 94 While You Were Sleeping in 95 Time to Kill in 96 Demolition Man which is one of my favorite movies of all time 93 this is a huge movie star and nicole kidman in one of the reviews of practical magic was actually references like miss tom cruise um she had been in days of thunder with said tom cruise in 1990 batman forever in 95 to die for 95 but she didn't she actually wasn't huge when this came out and it's interesting to watch it now because she feels very much like the Nicole Kidman of To Die For and Batman Forever.

She's not the Nicole Kidman of, like Sandra Bullock feels the same as she ever did.

Nicole Kidman, it's like, is it when she has the red hair? What is it? Like, she's like, she's so carefree and sexy and fun here.

So disappointed in that film.

I thought that was a good example where she could have been so incredible it's perfect role for her and yet it was a disaster i can't get

into baby girl i'll talk about it all day it was a disaster of a film i know but she's so unemotional and i i i understand the pressures obviously in hollywood and women of aging but at the same time i do feel it's disappointing when actresses with the kind of power she could age she could she like yeah like she's up there she doesn't need to the top of Hollywood like the it's not about how she looks it's more about how she allows herself to be presented because there was a massive magazine spread for this that she did a September issue and I think it might have been Vanity Fair but do not quote me on it and people have been like she's stretching the incredulous incredulous like she's photoshopped into oblivion like it could be any one of those photos and that's where i think it's no it's one thing like you know whatever you look like whatever you've done to your face but it's another thing to allow your image to be put out in the world like that that's so disingenuous that really frustrates me with her but i'm dying to see her now when i go this weekend to the second one because can she be sexy and fun anymore like has she lost that or not or she really so stiff which i don't put all down to the face work it's something just different about how she holds herself because dave and i watched batman forever on patreon a year or two ago and she's so sexy in that as well you're really interesting years do you know what it's a great rewatch it's an absolute great rewatch um where sandra bullock obviously cream of the queen of the rom-com then even though she was like yeah more that like later on in the 90s but And like she's in serious roles like A Time to Kill.

She's a huge star in this film.

For this record... particularly U2, in a weird way.

Only because on some of my favorite soundtracks, and not really following them as a band, but the impression their music has made on me, in Batman Forever, There's so many moments where I'm like, oh, that's a U2 track, but I've been like belting it, you know, and it's been living in my psyche.

And I do really love like a vulnerable-ness to a male vocal in that there's a yearning and earnestness when it's done right.

And, you know, listening to Seal, Kiss From A Rose.
